Join us in welcoming Deepak Shah to our Engineering Team! Prior to Kipsu, Deepak studied Computer Science at St. Olaf College. In his free time, Deepak enjoys running, hiking, playing harmonica, and traveling to unknown places. We're so excited to have him a part of the Kipsu team and asked him to chat about his experience at Kipsu so far
What drew you to Kipsu in contrast to other companies?
Most of the correct decisions I have made have begun with a random first step. I did not know much about Kipsu before applying but after meeting the team during the interview, I realized I had made a correct decision. Having gone through several rounds of interviews from meeting the engineering team to the leadership team, I was attracted by the values and mindset of the team. Although being a technological company, the drive is centered on enhancing communication between people.
What were some things you noticed about the Kipsu team during your first week?
What challenges are you looking forward to tackling in your work at Kipsu?
I plan to become adept at coding. I also would like to collaborate with senior engineers and get exposure to tools and techniques that will be useful in the long term. I look forward to learning about how to lead a startup. And someday I might be able to convert my own idea to solve an another problem in an another part of the world.
What is your favorite Kipsu core value?
Pursue Relentlessly. As someone born in one of the least developed communities of Nepal, I have never stopped chasing my dream. At Kipsu, I have found more such people and so I will pursue relentlessly together with them.
If you could meet any person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick and why?
I would invite Irfaan Khan. He is an actor who at one point of life could not afford to buy a Jurassic Park movie ticket but at another point was a lead actor in the movie. He stayed focused with his dreams and ultimately wrote his own destiny. His acting sheds light on complex ideas such as overcoming fear, motivating compassion, following truth, being mindful and living with a free mind, all of which are appealing to me. He has recently been diagnosed with Neuroendocrine tumor and far from being sad about it - he is thankful that this disease has brought a different perspective on life. I want to meet him because I admire him.
