Keisha Josephs Joins Kipsu!

Kipsu recently welcomed Keisha Josephs to our Customer Success team. Prior to joining us, Keisha, a New York native, lived in Tucson, AZ for nine years while attending graduate school for Linguistics. She specialized in working with endangered Native American languages, specifically the language of her own tribal community, Kalinago. In 2015, Keisha moved from Tucson to Minneapolis to attend Prime Digital Academy where she was certified in Full-Stack Javascript development. We're excited to have Keisha a part of the Kipsu team and asked her to chat about her experience at Kipsu so far, this is what she had to say.

What drew you to Kipsu in contrast to other companies?

Kipsu was one of the few companies that looked at me as a whole person, rather than just the skills I had. I was also impressed with the community outreach that the company has done, for example partnering with local tech non-profit, Reve Academy for events.

What is your favorite thing about working at Kipsu so far?

The people! Everyone is great. I love being around a group of such smart and supportive people. And they get my humor, so that’s a plus.

What challenges are you looking forward to tackling in your work at Kipsu?

I’m hoping that at some point I’ll be able to tackle mobile development. I’ve dabbled in it in the past but it’s something that I’ve always wanted to learn in-depth.

What is your favorite Kipsu core value?

My favorite Kipsu core value is “Pursue Relentlessly." Making a career switch from academia to the tech industry wasn’t easy. I didn’t expect to be told in so many ways that I couldn’t do it. What gave me confidence that this was something that I loved was the fact that I never stopped pursuing it.

Do you prefer donuts or bagels and why?

As a New Yorker, a warm, buttered, bodega bagel would be my first choice! I have a lot of fond memories of eating a buttered bagel with a cup of hot chocolate on my way to high school while growing up in the Bronx.
