Kirsten Ruge Joins Kipsu!

Join us in welcoming Kirsten Ruge to our Engineering Team! Prior to Kipsu, Kirsten graduated from Software Guild in 2016 and worked as an Automation Engineer and developer at RedBrick Health and a local golf club management company. Outside of work, Kirsten enjoys writing music and playing drums in local bands, competitive weightlifting, and cooking. She also loves every dog on the planet. We're so excited to have her a part of the Kipsu team and asked Kirsten to chat about her experience at Kipsu so far.

What drew you to Kipsu in contrast to other companies?

I was at a point in my career where I needed to put myself in a new and challenging environment in order to continue to grow as an engineer. I interviewed at three local tech companies and Kipsu was by far the warmest, most collaborative company I’d ever visited, with lots of bright, driven people I could learn from.

What were some things you noticed about the Kipsu team during your first week?

Wow, everybody really likes helping here! Whether it's needing some background information on a new bug or just needing somebody to go to lunch with, people are there for you when you need them.

What challenges are you looking forward to tackling in your work at Kipsu?

It is really important for me to have the opportunity to both teach and be taught, and I am really looking forward doing a whole lot of both of those things at Kipsu. I’m excited to learn to live the Kipsu culture of collaboration and innovation.

What is your favorite Kipsu core value?

Play the Long Game - I like the idea of building things thoughtfully with attention to scalability and future stability. I also like the idea being a part of a growing company without a specific end game in mind.

If you could meet any person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick and why?

I’d like to meet Dave Davidson, the lead guitarist from my favorite band, Revocation. He is a brilliant musician and a prolific songwriter, and I’d really like to find out where he gets that relentless drive to create new, beautiful and different things year after year, and how he takes creative risks while still maintaining his “sound” or identity.
