Join us in welcoming Mark Leedy to the third round of Kipsu's Entrepreneurship Leadership Rotational Program, the Gamma Cohort! Prior to Kipsu, Mark majored in Political Science at Carleton College. Outside of work, Mark enjoys being active with playing basketball and golf, as well as relaxing with yoga, cooking, and hanging out with friends. We're excited to have him join the Kipsu team and asked Mark to share his experience with Kipsu so far.
What drew you to Kipsu in contrast to other companies?
Everyone I interviewed with seemed very genuine and expressed the same passion about Kipsu's culture, which stood out. I also got the impression that they wanted to invest in me as an employee and not simply someone they are hiring to perform a task. The final interview with CEO Chris Smith was also something that really sold me on the company. Chris was awesome and I thought it was impressive that meeting with the CEO was a part of the interview process.
What were some things you noticed about the Kipsu team during your first week?
Everyone is very friendly and willing to help, they made me feel comfortable very quickly. Not to mention you can tell that they definitely know their stuff.
What challenges are you looking forward to tackling in your work at Kipsu?
Just being able to adjust from rotation to rotation and focusing on one rotation at a time. I'm not really sure what challenges I will be faced with yet, but I look forward to diving headfirst into whatever it is I'm asked to do.
What is your favorite Kipsu core value?
Play the Long Game. I think a lot of tech companies, especially startups, have their eyes set on the short term prize. Making sacrifices in the short term for the benefit of the long term is a philosophy that I believe will win out over time and something that drew me to Kipsu.
If you could meet any person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick and why?
On a less serious note, Charles Barkley. I think he's hilarious and would have some seriously funny stories. On a more serious note, Ray Dalio. I really liked his book called Principles, and I think there would be a lot to learn from someone that started one of the biggest investment management funds in the world.
What made you choose to apply for the Entrepreneurship Leadership Rotation Program?
I had an intuition that I wanted to do B2B tech sales, but I wasn't completely sure. So the Entrepreneurship Leadership Rotation Program would give me the opportunity to try sales as well as other roles, which will hopefully give me a more well-rounded experience and understanding about the product/company.
