Join us in welcoming Michael Abbott to our Engineering Team! Prior to Kipsu, Michael work for Jamf for 6+ years. Michael is from the cooler part of the Twin Cities, Saint Paul of course, and recently bought a 100-year-old house with his wife and is having a lot of fun renovating it. We're so excited to have him a part of the Kipsu team and asked him to chat about his experience at Kipsu so far.
What drew you to Kipsu in contrast to other companies?
What initially drew me to Kipsu was the focus on company culture. I want to work at a place that I'm excited to go to every day and where I know the company sees its employees as its greatest asset. I was also looking for a smaller, growing company where I can make a bigger impact. Lastly, it became evident during the interview process that the leadership team was transparent, honest, and knowledgable.
What were some things you noticed about the Kipsu team during your first week?
Everyone is so nice! It’s easy to see that everyone genuinely wants the best for each other and for the company as a whole.
What challenges are you looking forward to tackling in your work at Kipsu?
I’m looking forward to learning new technologies, and helping the engineering team grow while also improving my own leadership skills.
What is your favorite Kipsu core value?
Play the long game. When you know you are in it for the long haul, you are able to build more meaningful relationships with coworkers and customers. There are so many companies out there who try to grow super fast just to sell in a few years, which can kill company culture. I love where Kipsu is headed and I’m excited to join for the ride!
If you could meet any person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick and why?
This is a tough one. I’d like to have dinner with the entire cast of Parks and Recreation, but if I had to choose one, I’d say Nick Offerman. He likes to travel, drink whiskey, woodwork, and grow his beard so I think we would have a lot to talk about!
