Join us in welcoming Skyler Bellwood to our Engineering Team! Prior to Kipsu, he worked as a software engineer at a small startup, connecting local farmers with restaurants in order to make food sourcing easier. Outside of work, Skyler enjoys an array of activities from cooking and baking, to reading and staying active! He also just jumped into the world of Doctor Who for the first time and is loving it. We're excited to have him join the Kipsu team and asked Skyler to share his experience with Kipsu so far.
What drew you to Kipsu in contrast to other companies?
It was clear to me through the interview process that Kipsu really cares about bringing talented people together to work on a technically fascinating and impactful problem. I also was drawn to the wide array of technologies that Kipsu uses to accomplish their solution, and realized that the opportunity to work here would give me a lot of exposure to exciting things to learn.
What were some things you noticed about the Kipsu team during your first week?
Everyone was very nice and helpful throughout the onboarding process. The diversity and wide-ranging backgrounds of everyone that works here helps to build a really fun team.
What challenges are you looking forward to tackling in your work at Kipsu?
I’m excited to learn new languages, frameworks, and architectures—especially in the mobile development space. Working on improving the user experience for these mobile platforms will be a fun challenge to undertake.
What is your favorite Kipsu core value?
It’s hard to just pick one, but I think my favorite Kipsu core value is “Go Beyond Together.”
If you could meet any person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick and why?
I would probably most like to chat with Pat Rothfuss. He is my favorite author and I am convinced that no one can tell a story quite like he can. With the wide variety of his past, the awesome books that he has written, and his generally strange sense of humor, I feel certain that we would have a fun conversation.
